What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme, commonly referred to as the NDIS, is a transformative approach in Australia to assist individuals under the age of 65 living with disabilities. It emphasizes the provision of tailored planning, financing, and support to those individuals, ensuring that services evolve in line with their changing needs throughout their lifetime.
On December 12, 2017, a significant agreement was reached between the Commonwealth and Western Australian Governments, allowing Western Australia to integrate into the nationally administered NDIS framework.
This integration promotes greater autonomy and choice, empowering individuals to select service providers they believe are most suitable to support their unique requirements and lifestyle aspirations. However, the NDIS's implementation across Western Australia is gradual. It's crucial for individuals to be informed about the specific rollout timelines in their regions, ensuring they are well-equipped and primed to craft their personalized plans.
